This is just one of my favourite all time Thin Lizzy Songs, its just so beautiful even the guitar music is just amazing, I always look forward to this song when they play it on stage, it has evereybody bouncing on their feet.

I like this Band very much and I was watching and get to know that the singer died 24 years ago(January.04.1986) His hair was very cool I would love to have it like he does.

that's pretty scary stuff 69bear, knowning he's already been dead for 24 years already, I do remember what I was doing the day he died & that was being out at a rockers/metalheads nightclub until 3 am & coming back the same morning was a photo on the front page of our local newspaper saying that Phil Lynott had died at the age of 36 in January 1986 , I was completely gutted by the news , it was someone who I grew up with like David Bowie & admirer so much in the rock music world,everyone was expecting him to get better with him being in hospital, it wasn't the new that any rock/Thin Lizzy fans wanted to hear.
Anytime he & Thin Lizzy cme to Glasgow Apollo they always loved it here, they even wore the Scotland soccer strips of 1978 on stage.
He was a redally one of the great,down to earth rock star really cared about hi fans, not someone whos's already rich & famous, he always had time to chat with his fans, yeah! he's wasa true rock gent here.
There's a satute of him in his hometown of Dublin, Ireland which I have visited a few times over the years, it's always nice to have a reminder of the great guy on display.

Almighty, Def Lep men in new Thin Lizzy


Former Almighty frontman Ricky Warwick and Def Leppard guitarist Viv Campbell have joined the 2011 lineup of Thin Lizzy.

The band, once led by Phil Lynott, now features Warwick on vocals and guitar, Campbell on guitar, Lynott-era guitarist Scott Gorham and keyboardist Darren Wharton, Marco Mendoza on bass and founding member Brian Downey on drums.

They'll play a memorial show on June 4 in Dublin to mark the 25th anniversary of Lynott's death before embarking on a UK tour running for the rest of the month. Tour support will be from Supersuckers and further details on the anniversary show will be forthcoming.

Thin Lizzy imploded last year after long-time member John Sykes left the band, soon after drummer Tommy Aldridge broke his shoulder, resulting in the band cancelling their support slots on AC/DC's 2010 UK dates.

At the time Gorham, who joined Lynott and co in 1974 and stayed until they split in 1983, said: "I can only apologise to everyone who has supported us over the years – but we will be back up at full speed soon."

Warwick is currently on tour supporting his most recent solo album, Belfast Confetti. Def Leppard are on a break after a long world tour, with singer Joe Elliott about to release a tribute to Mott the Hoople recorded with the Quireboys as Joe Elliott's Down'n'Outz, and guitarist Phil Collen having released a Man-Raze album in 2008.

I went to see Thin Lizzy again last night live here in Glasgow with some of my friends, & what an excellent night we had from start to the very end, we where treated to over 20 of Thin Lizzy's greatest songs, everything from Are You Ready,Waiting for an Alibi, jailbreak, Do Anything You Want to do, Southbound,Dancing in the Moonlight,Angel of Death, as well as some classis are Boys Are Back in Town,Whiskey in the jar,Bad Reputation,Emerald, Roslie/Cowboy Song & my personal fav The Black Rose.
Ricky Warwick really fits in prefect in the currant Thin Lizzy line up now, 3 guitarists playing some amazing Thin Lizzy songs. If this band is coming near you soon, buy yourself a ticket as you're in for a great night out.
Can't wait until they come back again.

Rock This Way: The Story of My Life surfaces as 2011 Lizzy lineup hit the road and Dublin marks 25th anniversary of singer’s death.
An unreleased Phil Lynott track has appeared online on the 25th anniversary of the Thin Lizzy star’s death.

The Story of My Life, available below, features Snowy White on guitar and was recorded during 1981 sessions which spawned the unsuccessful single Trouble Boys. At the time band members weren’t clear on whether they were recording for the upcoming Lizzy album, Renegade, or working on solo Lynott material.

The 2011 lineup of Thin Lizzy has just begun a European tour, featuring Almighty frontman Ricky Warwick on vocals and guitar plus Def Leppard guitarist Viv Campbell and ex-Whitesnake bassist Marco Mendoza. They join Lynott-era Lizzy members Scott Gorham, Brian Downey and Darren Wharton.

Rock Radio DJ Paul Anthony has released the last-ever radio interview with Lynott, recorded just a few months before his death on January 4, 1986. During the conversation he expressed his regret over Thin Lizzy’s split, saying: “I miss lots of things, Lizzy’s like a girlfriend you can’t go back to. I’m in love with the idea of being with her again, but it’s impossible. You can’t really go back.”

Meanwhile, Irish music and politics magazine Hot Press will mark the icon’s anniversary with a large-scale exhibition in St Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre, Dublin, in March, which will be designated ‘Philip Lynott Month’. Displays will include basses, guitars, personal letters, paintings, photos, song lyrics and memorabilia.

Hot Press editor Niall Stokes says: “Philip loved that part of Dublin. All his favourite haunts were in close proximity and we wanted to hold the exhibition in a place that has special resonance for his fans. He was part of a movement which brought songwriting and poetry closer together.”

Lynott’s mum Philomena says: “I’m thrilled the exhibition has become a reality. There’s a huge feeling of goodwill out there towards Philip. It’s going to be an inspiring event for everyone who loved my son and his music.”

Alive and Dangerous CD+DVD box set

This has to be one of my all-tim favs here, I''ll be buying the Delux Edition sson.

Having gone through all kind of agonies on which Thin Lizzy re issue to review, finally "Live and Dangerous" just trumped "Jailbreak" their most complete studio album because of the presence of the magnificent "Still in love with you" and the splendid cover of Bob Seger''s "Rosalie". Having seen this great band in there hey day in December 1977 at the Cardiff Capitol, with the classic Lynott, Gorham, Robertson and Downey line up, it brings back the fondest of memories. Thin Lizzy were a blistering live act and one the greatest hard rock bands to have graced terra firma. They were also a band that were and remain "cool", thus it was no surprise at the time that there was some justified comparison of Phil Lynott to Bruce Springsteen circa the "Boys are back in town". The Cardiff concert really was an evening of amazing highs with their version of "Don''t believe a word" the musical equivalent of shock and awe and with that wonderful Irishman and master front man Phil Lynott gracing the stage with charisma to spare and that cheeky banter (yes he did the "would you like more Irish in you" line).

Thus we have this one of the greatest double live albums reissued and remastered by Scott Gorham and Brian Downey with two additional tracks a storming "Bad reputation" and thunderous "Opium trail" drawn from concerts in London and Toronto in 1977. To add further icing to the cake you also have a wealth of DVD material including the original Live and Dangerous DVD, now expanded to include previously unseen performances from these shows and their farewell tour.

Let us at this point also kill the Visconti controversy. Certainly producer Tony Visconti re-recorded much of Lynott''s vocal and the guitar (although not the drums) on the album and readily admitted at the time that large parts of it were recorded in the studio. To which our collective response should be "so what"? Even concert purists like the Grateful Dead often "touched up" their live recordings like "Europe 1972" and there are plenty of Thin Lizzy bootlegs out there should you want these songs "in the raw". The point about "Live and dangerous" is what it captures at a certain time and place. You have the fiery dual assault of the tempestuous Brian Robertson dispatching huge harmony solos with Gorham matching every riff. You have Downey one of the greatest rock drummers providing an immense backbeat and most of all Lynott with a voice that is so distinctive and expressive it is unique in rock music. Add to this the fact that he wrote great lyrical songs and on their day Thin Lizzy were unimpeachable and faultless.

Check out the superb version here of "Boys", the gloriously funky "Johnny the fox and Jimmy the Weed" and the tenderness of "Still in love with you" and you have a band at the top of their game. Phillip Parris Lynott''s tragic death at 36 in 1986 robbed us of one of the great musicians and poets of the rock era. As such Gorham and Downey should be hugely thanked for this remastering and just remember it "Won''t be long till summer comes/Now that the boys are here again".
